17th century women's portraits at Skokloster castle

I visited Skokloster castle this summer and here is a few goodies from the vast portrait collection.

There is a rather romantic story concerning the marriage of Count Carl Gustaf Wrangel. One of the richest, noblest and most important men in Sweden met a young and beautiful, but also impoverished and orphaned German noblewoman, Anna Margareta von Haugwitz and marries her just out love. Big scandal, happy marriage and she must have been gorgeous if this portrait is anything to go by!

Or rather portraits. It's raining and I have been looking though my Photobucket and now I'm inflicting you with some pictures I particulary like. With that I bid you a festive Midsummer and I will return next week- hopefully with something sewing related.

I want my sewing mojo back!

I realized that I need to finish my embroidered polonaise before I start on the petticoat, as I need to know how the overdress falls on the petticoat before I decide on how to place the embroideries on the petticoat.

Meh.

I have lots of stuff I can work on and I usually feel enthusiastic about something, but no. Perhaps it is tied to the fact that it's a bit chaotic at home right now, as we are having bookshelves built. Tehre's a lot of stuff in my sewing area that doesn't really live there and clutter up and I can't move them until the living room is finished. I hope I feel better when things are in their proper place.

And what do we do when we feel out of sorts? Picspam, of course!
